YFT logistics is proud sponsors for the 2021 season to Josh Brookes who rides in the British Super Bikes. Josh Brookes who is a Australian professional motorcycle Superbike and Supersport racing, both domestically and internationally. In 2020, he raced in the British Superbike Championship with Paul Bird motorsport -Vision Track Ducati racing team where he won his second British title. Josh rides a Ducati Panigale V4 R under a new racing number 1.

British super bikes is at Brands Hatch this weekend where he has won 10 of the last 14 races. We are looking forward to another successful season like last year.

Port of Felixstowe delays, Chaos is still on going up at the port of Felixstowe with restricted VBS slots for putting container back on to the port.

Dear all,

Following recent updates concerning the ongoing delays at the Port of Felixstowe, we can update that the situation has unfortunately deteriorated. The Port of Felixstowe has now announced that they will not accept the restitution of empty containers until further notice.

Given that our consolidation containers unpack outside the port, this will further delay the unpacking of our containers, which are already far behind normal schedule. The shipping lines have offered return points which vary from London Gateway to the north of England, which in all cases is neither feasible or practical, meaning vehicles will take significantly longer to discharge containers at a much increased cost. This is coupled with the ongoing problems with the VBS(vehicle booking system) whereby the port are only accepting a very reduced amount of trucks to collect containers from the quay, causing a huge backlog which will not clear unless some action is taken. This is further compounded by the fact that hauliers even with the VBS slots are being held at the quay for many hours leading to some now refusing to collect from the port at all.

This has had a significant impact on our operations, and in turn our service to you, our customer which we can only apologise for. We are doing everything we can to work around the situation, but with the situation as it stands, we are unfortunately limited in scope to what we can do. We have looked to lobby the relevant trade bodies and our partners have reached out to the port and carrier directly but thus far have not received anything constructive in return.

With these current developments, we must also advise customers that it is unlikely neither the port of the carriers will waive or mitigate any detention or demurrage costs incurred. This along with any costs incurred through returning containers to different restitution points, we will unfortunately look to recover from clients on a pro rata basis depending on the volume within the effected container. This will only be applied for containers arriving into Felixstowe port .

We are looking at solutions to avoid incurrence of any anomalous cost and understand this is not palatable for any customer, but with the situation as it is, unfortunately, we are left with no choice.

We will endeavour to update all clients concerning individual shipments and containers in the coming days and our import team remain at your disposal

UK Tariff Changes announced from 1st January 2021

This UK Global Tariff (UKGT) will replace the EU’s Common External Tariff, which applies until 31 December 2020 to the end of the transition period.

The UK Global Tariff will apply to goods imported into the UK from 1 January 2021, at the end of the transition period, unless an exception such as a preferential arrangement or tariff suspension applies. For example, it will not apply to goods coming from developing countries that benefit under the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP), or to goods originating from countries with which the UK has negotiated a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The Northern Ireland / Ireland Protocol in the Withdrawal Agreement provides for certain specific arrangements as regards Northern Ireland.

The UKGT was designed following engagement with businesses and individuals across the UK. This included over 1,300 responses to a public consultation that are summarised here. The public consultation demonstrated the UK’s intention to simplify and tailor our tariff regime. It offered respondents the opportunity to provide views on how we create a tariff schedule that reflects the needs of UK business.

Tariff Amendments

A. Simplifying and tailoring the UK tariff

I. Removing tariffs on goods with particularly low tariffs currently (less than 2.5%)

II. Rounding tariffs to the nearest standardised band

III. Taking steps towards agricultural tariffs that are applied as single percentages

B. Removing tariffs on key inputs used in the production of other goods;

C. Removing tariffs where the UK has limited or zero domestic production.

UK consumers will also benefit from more choice and lower costs on numerous goods thanks to zero tariffs. These include, for example:

Dishwashers (down from 2.7%).

Freezers (down from 2.5%).

Sanitary products and tampons (down from 6.3%).

Paints (down from 6.5%) and screwdrivers (down from 2.7%).

Mirrors (down from 4%).

Scissors and garden shears (down from 4.7%).

Padlocks (down from 2.7%).

Cooking products such as baking powder (down from 6.1%), yeast (down from 12%), bay leaves (down from 7%), ground thyme (down from 8.5%) and cocoa powder (down from 8%).

Christmas trees (down from 2.5%).

COVID-19 maintain a tariff. To ensure those working on the front line can access vital equipment easily, the UK has introduced a temporary zero tariff rate on these products. This relief waives the tariff and VAT for personal protective equipment (PPE), medical devices, disinfectant and medical supplies from non-EU countries. This will be reviewed throughout 2020 and will continue to apply in 2021 if necessary.
